a member of the LSSO
We
are a community, volunteer group of musicians. The primary qualification
for membership in the orchestra is a love of music. Orchestral players
other than the concertmaster perform gratis. Positions are filled
as vacancies occur and may involve competitive auditions. Players
may offer their services to the personnel director on a waiting
list to serve as substitutes or supplementary players. Players on
the list are most likely to hear of pending vacancies. Seating within
sections is at the discretion of the music director or the conductor
of a particular concert.
There are annual dues for membership in the orchestra, $80 for the
year ($75 if paid before the first concert) or $20/concert if the
player joins for only part of the season. Membership in the orchestra
is open to all regardless of race, creed, national origin, or sexual
orientation.
If you are interested in joining the LSSO, please call the LSSO
Information Line, 312-409-5670 or e-mail info@lsso.org.
