Dear Friends of the LSSO,
I am thrilled
to share with you the great music and unique events that we have
planned for the 2007-08 LSSO Season. This season is sure to energize
your emotions and uplift your spirits.
On our first
program, we will not only be featuring the beautiful playing of
John Bruce Yeh, Assistant Principal Clarinetist from the Chicago
Symphony Orchestra, but also the Enigma Variations of Elgar. In
this work, Elgar pays tribute to his friends by musically capturing
interesting aspects of their personalities in each variation of
this piece. What a unique and great way to be able to honor your
close friends. You, the LSSO’s loyal audience members, are
our friends and we would like to honor you with a small gift at
this concert.
At our second
concert, we are excited to provide you with a rare opportunity to
hear a South Indian classical hand drum virtuoso. His playing is
sure to get your toe tapping before you hear the depth and beauty
of Brahms.
At our third
concert we celebrate how great it is to be an American by presenting
a concert of only American composers. This music has it all. From
lively and exciting to touching and heartfelt, I am sure that you
will enjoy it. Also, enjoy a slice of apple pie at this concert.
Don’t worry, I won’t be baking it!
At our final
concert you will get to hear how Debussy musically captures the
color and mood of the sea. Then, by way of contrast, you will hear
the Russian composer Rachmaninoff. His melodies are extremely touching
and his rhythms will have you on the edge of your seat for this
beautiful, bold, and brassy season closer.
The orchestra
and I invite you to join us for this great concert series and we
look forward to presenting these programs for you. Subscribe now
to the LSSO 2007-08 season and you will not only get to experience
these great programs, you will also receive a discount by purchasing
the entire series! I look forward to sharing this outstanding music
with you.
