Rehearsals

Rehearsals are held regularly on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-10:00pm at Northside College Preparatory High School, 5501 N. Kedzie Ave., Chicago. Music stands are provided. Occasionally the Music Director will call for special sectionals and those musicians not involved are excused for the evening. There is always a Saturday dress rehearsal before each major Sunday performance.The orchestra has a break on the Wednesday following each concert. Members are encouraged to participate in bringing snacks and beverages for breaks at each rehearsal.

Become a member of the LSSO

We are a community volunteer group of musicians. Positions are filled as vacancies occur and involve an audition. Players may offer their services to the personnel director on a waiting list to serve as subs or supplementary players. Players on the list are most likely to hear of pending vacancies. Auditions can be scheduled throughout the season for either membership or sub list.

Membership in the orchestra is open to all regardless of race, creed, national origin, or sexual orientation.
