Our Mission
The LSSO is a not-for-profit symphony orchestra whose primary focus it to engage, inspire and educate through music's extraordinary power, to create an opportunity for Chicago area musicians to perform a wide variety of symphonic music, and to provide youth, seniors, and persons with limited access to the arts high quality, affordable, and enlightening music.
Russell Vinick, Music Director
We are pleased to announce that Lake Shore Symphony Orchestra conductor, Russell Vinick, has been named "Conductor of the Year" for 2010 by the Illinois Council of Orchestras. In addition to his musical expertise with the Lake Shore Symphony Orchestra, Vinick also serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Chicago Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and as a faculty member at Columbia College of Chicago

Henry Criz, Concertmaster
Deemed an “outstanding virtuoso” by the Berliner Morgenpost and “technically solid and musically sensitive” by Tages-Anzeiger Zurich, Henry Criz has made numerous successful concert tours in the United States, and the major halls of Europe. Under the auspices of the United States Department of State, he has played in a number of cities in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. His engagements have included appearances with the Chautauqua Festival Orchestra and the Washington National Orchestra at Wolf Trap. Mr. Criz made his debut at the age of 11 at a youth concert of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He has won the Dasch Award, the Lyon & Healy Award, and the McCormick Foundation Award, as well as the National Federation of Music Clubs Award, which led to a performance at The White House. His many recitals and broadcasts have included the Radio Telefis Eireann (RTE) and the Swiss Radio Broadcasting Systems. He was Concertmaster of the orchestra of the Lyric Opera of Chicago for nine years, and has also been Concertmaster for and regularly appeared as soloist with the Elgin Symphony, the Suburban Summer Symphony and the Chicago Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Criz completed his musical training with Morris Gomberg at the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors, and a Master of Arts degree with high honors. He has been on the faculty of the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University, and is the Director and teacher at his Moraine Music Academy in Highland Park, IL.
